This year our annual Easter event was held on Saturday, April 1st, 2017 at the Navajo Nation Zoo and Botanical Park in Window Rock, AZ. This was a new venue for us and it couldn’t have been more perfect! There was a big shade and stage, a playground, hunting areas, and best of all- zoo animals all over the park. The weather was not on our side this year, it lightly snowed off and on and it was a crisp cloudy day. Even though the weather wasn’t great, we still had a huge turnout! Many families came with their kids and baskets, they participated in our fun games and the Easter egg hunts.
Entertainment was provided by the talented father-daughters group, Rippy and the Silliettes. They covered songs from the 1950’s and they were kind enough to let us use their equipment to MC the event. We had some great prizes for our Raffle event, donations were provided by OxDx, The Fancy Navajo, Doris Mayday of Pinup Girl Clothing, and the Navajo Nation Zoo. Our guests also enjoyed the goodies sold at our Bake Sale and merchandise table, also a big Thank You to the Navajo Nation Speakers Office for donating some baked goods and water to our event.
The Zoo also provided Golden Eggs hidden throughout the zoo with a message inside to redeem a prize such as a zoo t-shirt or mug, the kids really loved that! Our games were a big hit not just among the kids but also the adults that wanted to play for fun when we ran out of prizes. Its always such a wonderful thing to see when the whole community comes out to our events – even when it’s snowing!
We are now looking forward to future events with our new partners at the NN Zoo, in fact, their next Zoo Fest is Saturday, June 10th, 2017. We will have our own booth set-up so come on out and enjoy what the zoo has to offer! There will be food vendors, games, entertainment, and US!
